What can I expect on my first visit as a new patient to Naturally Chiropractic?

On your first visit to Naturally Chiropractic, you will be greeted by, and introduced to, our friendly and helpful staff. If you have insurance coverage that may contribute to your chiropractic care, please provide our staff with your insurance card(s) so they may make a copy and verify your benefit plan. If you have already downloaded, printed and filled out your New Patient Intake Forms, we can get started with your New Patient Evaluation right away. If you have not had the opportunity to fill out your forms ahead of time, you’ll need to take about 10 minutes to complete that in our office before we begin your evaluation. Once your forms are completed, our New Patient Assistant will give you a brief tour of our office and escort you to our private consultation room to discuss your health history and goals. You’ll then be brought to our examination and x-ray room where our New Patient Assistant will perform state of the art nervous system and movement evaluation tests, and any necessary x-rays. Once those steps are complete, you can relax for a few minutes in our adjusting suite while our New Patient Assistant discusses your health history and goals with one of our doctors in private. The doctor will join you in the adjusting suite to complete your evaluation with palpation of your spine and muscles, and – the moment you’ve been waiting for – your chiropractic adjustment! Your entire first visit to Naturally Chiropractic is usually about 45-60 minutes. Please feel free at any time to ask questions and address any concerns you may have to a doctor of staff member. We want every experience at Naturally Chiropractic to be memorable for all the right reasons.

What can I expect from my chiropractic adjustment?

Most people hear a “popping” or “cracking” sound when they get adjusted. Rest assured, this is simply the sound of gases being released from the fluid in the joint capsules that surround spinal joints. Most people report a release of tension, increased energy or even better rest after a Chiropractic adjustment. As the body adapts to the adjustment, a few people may report soreness, discomfort, & even flu-like symptoms. This is due to the physical change AND the physiological change that takes place with a Chiropractic adjustment. The body will be healing, processing information differently & eliminating toxins, which can produce these uncomfortable symptoms. The most effective remedies are the following:

  • Use an ice pack, covered by a light towel, for 10-15 minutes MAX, in any area of discomfort. Remove the ice until the skin temperature returns to normal (about 35-45 minutes) & repeat as often as you feel is necessary.
  • Drink plenty of water. This will help to flush out toxins from the body & keep you hydrated. Both are essential for healing & general good health.
  • Rest as much as possible. Rest is your body’s healing time & good rest and sleep are also essential for healing & general good health.
  • Find ways to de-stress, even if it’s only a few minutes a day.

Chiropractic adjustments are not intended to cure anything, not even pain, but are delivered with the intent to help move the body in a direction of improved overall well-being. One Chiropractic adjustment is but a single step in a PROCESS of healing, increased nervous system function & greater health potential. Daily chemical, physical & emotional stresses create interference to the growth & healing systems of the body. Regular Chiropractic adjustments combat these stresses & restore the integrity of these growth & healing systems. Please contact us with any questions. Thank you & WELCOME!
